Disaster Recovery Planning has long been a focus for IT Managers and businesses are starting to develop robust Business Continuity Plans. What about Continuity for IT services. How does it differ from DR and what are the implications for the Help Desk? Should it be reactive or pro-active in nature? These and other questions will be explored - there will even be a few answers!

Deborah Harrop is Senior Manager for IT Infrastructure with the Workers' Compensation Board – Alberta. She has over fourteen years experience in Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity Planning and IT Security, 7 of it with the WCB. Deborah coordinated the IT Disaster Recovery Program for the ATCO Group of companies for five years. She implemented and managed the IT Disaster Recovery program, including the testing program at the WCB, and is responsible for corporate-wide Business Continuity Planning. She has had her CBCP designation for over six years. She also holds Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and Information Systems Professional (I.S.P.) designations.
